Program 1:

“Africans in the West” Throughout the African Diaspora, there is always certain to be song, dance, & music. The African presence is culturally significant in the USA. This program features the drums, dance, and narrative of Black America. This ensemble uses narratives from African folklore as well as cultural dances, rhythms, & songs to highlight the similarity of expression demonstrated by the people found in these four countries who are separated by distance, but connected by their African cultural heritage.

Program 2:

“The Sound of Blackness” This program focuses on the music lineage of African-Americans in the USA. The story of Black Americana is told best through the music. As African-Americans moved up from the "Slave" fields to a higher place on the social rung of the American society, the sound of their music changed. The" field hollers" evolved into the Blues, which begat Jazz and everything else. This program features the Marcus Miller ensemble performing Miller's original compositions as well as standards made popular by great musicians including Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and many others.

Program 3:

Give Thanks & Praises in Celebration This program celebrates the indigenous cultures throughout the world and showcases some of their cultural dances and rhythms. Polynesian, Indigenous American, Arabian, Middle Eastern, African, and South American cultures are celebrated.
